प्रश्न 2. पंत जी ने नदी के तट का जो वर्णन किया है, उसे अपने शब्दो में लिखिए।

उत्तर: पंत जी ने अपनी कविता में नदी के किनारे बैठी वृद्ध महिलाओं का वर्णन किया है। उन्होंने बताया है कि वे वृद्ध महिलाएँ जो नदी के किनारे बैठी हैं, वह किसी बगुले जैसी लग रही है जो शिकार के इंतजार में बैठा हो। पंत जी कहते हैं कि उन वृद्ध महिलाओं का दुख बिल्कुल नदी की बहती धारा के जैसा है। पंत जी की इस कविता में हमें बगुले और वृद्ध महिलाएँ दोनों ही देखने को मिलते है। कवि को बगुले और वृद्ध महिलाएँ इसलिए समान दिखाई पड़ते हैं क्योंकि दोनों का ही रंग सफेद होता है।

उत्तर: लाला हमेशा यही सोचता रहता है कि उसे ही इतने दुख क्यों मिलते हैं? वह खुशी और आराम के साथ अपनी जिंदगी क्यों नहीं व्यतीत कर पाता है? उसके पास अपने परिवार वालों को देने के लिए एक अच्छा घर भी नहीं है ऐसा क्यों? वह शहरों के बनियों कि तरह सफल क्यों नहीं है? वह सोचता है कि आखिर किसने उसकी सफलता को रोक रखा है? लाला को यह लगता है कि उसकी उन्नति को रोकने वाला कोई कारण जरूर है। वह यह भी सोचता है कि उसका समय और भाग्य ही उसका साथ नहीं देते हैं। यही सब लाला के मन की दुविधाएं हैं।

उत्तर :काव्य-साँदर्य-प्रस्तुत पंक्तियां कविवर सुमित्रानंदन की कविता ‘संध्या के बाद’ से अवतरित हैं। इन पंक्तियों में कवि ने सांध्यकालीन वातावरण में नदी के तट पर बैठी बूढ़ी स्त्रियों और विधवाओं की दशा का वर्णन किया है जो ऐसे ध्यान मग्न होकर परमात्मा का नाम जप रही हैं जैसे बगुले ध्यानपूर्वक पानी देख रहे हों। नदी के बहते पानी में इन बूढ़ी स्त्रियों और विधवाओं की न दिखने वाली पीड़ा जैसे धीरे-धीरे बह रही हो अर्थात् कवि ने बूढ़ी स्त्रियों और विधवाओं की पीड़ाजन्य स्थिति का वास्तविक वर्णन किया है। भाषा में भावुकता एवं माधुर्य है। उपमा अलंकार का स्वाभाविक प्रयोग है।

उत्तर :(क) संध्या के समय अस्ताचलगामी सूर्य की रक्तिम किरणें जब वृक्षों के पत्तों पर पड़ती हैं तो उनका रंग ताँबई हो जाता है, साथ ही सैकड़ों धाराओं में बहते हुए झरनों के जल का वर्ण स्वर्णिम हो जाता है।

(ख) कवि का मानना है कि दीपों की ज्योति के समान मंदिरों के शिखरों पर चमक्ता हुआ कलश ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा है मानो वह आकाश में सिर उठाकर जोर-जोर से परमात्मा का नाम जप रहो हो।

(ग) अस्ताचलगामी सूर्य के कारण वातावरण में धीरे-धीर अंधकार फैल रहा है जिसे देखकर पंक्ति में जाते हुए सोन पक्षियों की द्रवित कर देने वाली ध्वनि आकाश की खामोशी को भंग कर रही है।

(घ) कबि बस्ती के छोटे व्यापारियों की दयनीय आर्थिक दशा का वर्णन करते हुए लिखता है कि वे दिन निकलने से पहले ही टिन की ढिबरी जलाकर ग्राहकों के आने की प्रतीक्षा करने लगते हैं। उस ढिबरी से रोशनी से अधिक धुआँ निकलता है। इसी धुएँ के समान उनके मन में उत्पन्न अंतद्वर्वद्व के कारण उनके जीवन में भी दुख और पीड़ा रूपी धुआँ उनकी आँखों में भर जाता है।

(ङ) कवि बस्ती के छोटे व्यापारियों की दयनीय आर्थिक दशा का वर्णन करते हुए लिखता है कि अपनी दयनीय आर्थिक स्थिथि के कारण उनके हृदय की मूक वेदना और पीड़ा ढिबरी की कॉपती लौ के समान काँप रही है। इस कंपित ढ़िबरी की ज्योति में मानो उसके हुदय की छिपी पीड़ा और वेदना स्वयं ही मुखरित हो रही है।

(च) कवि कहता है कि बस्ती के छोटे व्यापारी की आर्थिक स्थिति दयनीय है। बिना किसी आय के उसका जीवन अंधकारमय तथा कष्टों से भरा हो गया है। उसे अपने जीवन की परिभाषा यही लगती है कि सदा अभावों से ग्रस्त रहना ही उसकी नियति है।
