उत्तर:- पोंगल एक त्यौहार है, जिसे तमिलनाडु में जनवरी महीने में मनाया जाता है। पोंगल के दिन खेतो से सुनहरे रंग का नया धान कटकर किसानो के घर आता है। इस समय खेतो में गन्ने की फसल तैयार होती है और घरों के बगीचों में हल्दी के पौधें लहलहा उठते हैं। इन्हें देख कर किसानों का मन खुशी से भर जाता है। पोंगल के दिन नए चावल का मीठा भात बनाकर सूर्य को चढ़ाया जाता है। इसी मीठे भात को पोंगल कहते हैं।
