SOF IMO Result 2026-27 Level 1 - Tie-Breaking Criteria

If two or more students achieve the same total score in SOF IMO Level 1, their ranks are determined by comparing their section-wise marks in a fixed order of priority. The section with the higher priority is considered first to decide the final rank.

SOF IMO Level 1 Tie-Breaking Rules

Priority

Section Considered

Tie-Breaking Rule

1

Achievers Section

Student with higher marks gets preference

2

Mathematical Reasoning

Considered if the tie remains after the Achievers Section

3

Everyday Mathematics

Considered if scores are still tied

4

Logical Reasoning

Used as the next criterion to determine the rank

Note: The tie-breaking process follows the priority order above. A lower-priority section is considered only when students remain tied after comparing their scores in the higher-priority section.

SOF IMO Cut-Off 2026-27 - Level 1 Qualifying Marks

The SOF IMO Cut-Off 2026-27 will be announced after the Level 1 examinations. The cut-off determines which students qualify under the applicable Level 2 selection criteria. Until the 2026-27 cut-off is released, students can refer to the SOF IMO 2025-26 Level 1 Top 5% cut-off below to understand the previous year's qualifying scores.

What to Do After the SOF IMO Level 1 Result 2026-27?

After the SOF IMO Level 1 Result 2026-27 is announced, students should check their marks, rank, and Student Performance Report (SPR). The next step depends on the student's class and qualification status.

Students in Classes 1 and 2 participate only in Level 1, while eligible students from Classes 3 to 12 who qualify should begin preparing for the SOF IMO Level 2 exam. Students can also use their SPR to identify strong and weak areas and improve their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

SOF IMO Awards, Certificates and Recognition

  • Students receive a Student Performance Report (SPR) along with their performance details.

  • Eligible Level 1 winners can receive awards and recognition according to SOF's applicable award criteria.

  • Students appearing in Level 2 may receive merit recognition based on the applicable rules.

  • Level 2 winners may qualify for international and zonal awards.

  • SOF also recognises high-performing students through medals, certificates, awards and other distinctions, subject to the official award criteria.

For Level 1 qualifiers: The priority should be to review the SPR, identify areas that need improvement, and start focused preparation for Level 2.

SOF IMO Level 2 Qualification Criteria 2026-27

Students from Classes 3 to 12 can qualify for the SOF IMO Level 2 examination based on their performance in Level 1. A student can become eligible through any of the following qualification routes:

Qualification Route

SOF IMO Level 2 Selection Criteria

Top 5% Qualifiers

Class-wise top 5% of students appearing in Level 1. Section-wise marks are considered when determining qualifiers.

Zonal Qualifiers

Top 25 rank holders from each class in each zone.

School-Level Qualifier

The class topper from each participating school, provided at least 10 students from that class appear in Level 1 and the topper scores at least 50% marks.

Note: Students of Classes 1 and 2 do not appear for Level 2.

SOF IMO Ranking Criteria 2026-27

If two or more students obtain the same total marks, SOF uses section-wise performance to determine their final ranking. The higher-priority sections are considered sequentially until the tie is resolved.

1. When will the SOF IMO Result 2026-27 be declared?

The SOF IMO Result 2026-27 has not been released yet. SOF generally declares Olympiad results around 6 to 8 weeks after the examination cycle is completed, so the Level 1 result is expected after the final Level 1 exam in December 2026.

2. When will the SOF IMO Result Level 1 be announced?

The SOF IMO Result Level 1 is expected after all three Level 1 exam dates are completed on 23 October, 26 November and 10 December 2026. Based on SOF’s usual result timeline, the result is expected around January 2027, subject to official confirmation.

3. What is the SOF IMO Result Date for Level 2?

The exact SOF IMO Level 2 Result Date has not yet been officially announced. The Level 2 exam is tentatively scheduled for February 2027, and the result is expected after evaluation, around March 2027.

4. Where can I check my IMO SOF Result 2026?

Students can check the IMO SOF Result 2026 on the official Science Olympiad Foundation website and here, at Vedantu, once the result link is activated. SOF also sends result information to participating schools.

5. How do I know if I have qualified for IMO Level 2?

Students from Classes 3 to 12 can qualify for Level 2 through SOF’s prescribed criteria, including the top 5% class-wise route, top 25 zonal rank holders, or eligible school topper criteria. The Level 1 result and qualification status indicate whether the student has progressed to Level 2.

6. What is the SOF IMO Level 1 cut-off for 2026-27?

The 2026-27 Level 1 cut-off has not been released yet because the exam cycle is still pending. Students can refer to the previous year’s cut-off only for trend analysis; the current year’s cut-off may differ.

7. Does scoring 50% guarantee qualification for SOF IMO Level 2?

No. Scoring 50% does not automatically qualify every student. The 50% condition applies specifically to the school-topper qualification route, along with the requirement that at least 10 students from that class appeared.

8. What is the Student Performance Report in SOF IMO?

The Student Performance Report (SPR) is a detailed analysis of a student’s Olympiad performance. It can include section-wise scores, rankings, comparative performance, strengths, and areas that need improvement.

9. Can I check my SOF IMO result through my school?

Yes. SOF sends Olympiad results to the participating schools, so students can also obtain their result information from their school in addition to checking it online.

10. What should I do after qualifying for SOF IMO Level 2?

Students who qualify should review their Level 1 performance, identify weak sections using the SPR, and start preparing for Level 2. The second-level exam is tentatively expected in February 2027 for Classes 3 to 12.

Yes. Level 1 determines initial ranking and Level 2 qualification, while the SOF IMO Level 2 Result represents the final-stage performance of qualifying students from Classes 3 to 12.

12. Can I download or print my SOF IMO result?

Once the online result is available, students can usually save or print their result page for future reference. It is also useful to retain the Student Performance Report and any qualification or award details provided by SOF.

13. What should I do if there is an error in my SOF IMO result details?

Students should first verify the details with their school records. If the information still appears incorrect, they should contact their school Olympiad coordinator or follow the official SOF support process for result-related queries.
