The NEET 2025 exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is the sole entrance exam for undergraduate medical courses in MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS, Nursing, and other allied healthcare programs in India.


The NEET UG 2025 exam is set to take place on May 4, 2025 (Sunday), in a pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based), as confirmed by the official NTA notification released on January 16, 2025. The notification states:


"As decided by the National Medical Commission, the NEET (UG) 2025 will be conducted in Pen and Paper mode (OMR-based) in a single day and single shift."

Note: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the APAAR ID also known as the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID). will not be a mandatory requirement for the NEET UG 2025 examination.


The APAAR ID serves as a digital repository for students' academic credits, providing a comprehensive record of their academic performance. However, the NTA has confirmed that while the APAAR ID is beneficial, it is not compulsory for registration for the upcoming exam. Candidates will still have alternative methods available for registration.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official syllabus for NEET 2025, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The syllabus aligns with NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 topics and is essential for students preparing for medical entrance exams.

NEET 2025 Application Process (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Registration

  1. Visit the official NEET website: neet.nta.nic.in

  2. Click on "New Registration" and enter your basic details including name, date of birth, and contact information.

  3. Create a password and choose a security question.

  4. After submitting the details, an Application Number will be generated. Save this number for future reference.


Step 2: Fill the Application Form

  1. Log in with the Application Number and Password.

  2. Enter your personal details such as nationality, category, PwD status, and address.

  3. Choose the medium of the question paper and preferred exam cities.

  4. Provide educational details, including Class 10 and Class 12 academic records.

  5. Upload the required documents in the prescribed format:


  • Passport-size Photograph: 10 KB to 200 KB (recent, coloured, white background)

  • Postcard-size Photograph: 10 KB to 200 KB

  • Signature: 10 KB to 50 KB

  • Left & Right-hand Thumb Impressions: 10 KB to 200 KB

  • Category Certificate (if applicable): 50 KB to 300 KB

  • PwD Certificate (if applicable): 50 KB to 300 KB

Step 3: Fee Payment

  1. Choose a payment method (Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI).

  2. Pay the applicable fees:

    • General: ₹1700 (India) / ₹9500 (Outside India)

    • OBC-NCL / General-EWS: ₹1600

    • SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender: ₹1000

  3. After successful payment, download and print the confirmation page.

Changes in NEET 2025 Exam Pattern

  • NEET 2025 has reverted to the pre-COVID exam pattern, meaning candidates must attempt all 180 questions.

  • No optional questions are provided.

  • The compensatory time for PwBD candidates is one additional hour.


NEET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

To appear for NEET 2025, candidates must meet specific age limits, educational qualifications, nationality requirements, and subject criteria as outlined by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Dental Council of India (DCI). 1. Age Criteria

  • The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2025.

  • For General (UR) and EWS candidates: Born on or before December 31, 2008.

2. Nationality

The following candidates are eligible:


  • Indian Citizens

  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)

  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)

  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)

3. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent qualifying examination with the following subjects:


  • Mandatory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.

  • Minimum aggregate marks required:

    • General/UR & EWS: 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology combined.

    • SC/ST/OBC-NCL: 40% in the same subjects.

    • PwBD (General & EWS): 45% in the same subjects.


Note:

  • Candidates appearing for Class 12 in 2025 can also apply but must provide proof of passing before admission.

  • Open school or private candidates are not eligible for NEET 2025.


4. Qualifying Examination Codes

Candidates should select their appropriate qualifying examination code:


  • Code 01: Appearing for Class 12 exam in 2025.

  • Code 02: Completed Class 12 from a recognized board with required subjects.

  • Other codes apply for foreign qualifications or other educational systems.


5. Eligibility for Foreign Medical Education

  • Indian and OCI candidates who wish to study MBBS/BDS abroad must qualify for NEET 2025.


6. Reservation Criteria

  • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) Seats are available for all candidates, including those from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

  • Category-wise Reservation:

    • SC: 15%

    • ST: 7.5%

    • OBC-NCL: 27%

    • EWS: 10%

    • PwBD: 5%


7. OCI Cardholder Privileges

  • As per the Supreme Court Order (dated 03.02.2023), OCI candidates will get the same rights and privileges as earlier.


8. Minimum Qualifying Marks for Admission

  • Candidates must be on the NEET 2025 merit list to be eligible for admission.
