With the competition involving nearly 20 lakh aspirants, success demands dedicated effort, guidance, and effective study materials. Valuable advice from professionals and toppers can aid your NEET 2024 preparation journey.

  • To begin, understand the NEET 2024 exam pattern and syllabus thoroughly. Categorize subjects into easy, moderate, and challenging sections. Consider the weightage of chapters in the syllabus and devise a strategy accordingly.

  • Select appropriate study resources and books, which is a pivotal aspect of your preparation. Many opt for coaching programs, but self-study is equally valuable. If you're taking coaching, complement it with self-study.

  • Enhance understanding and memory retention by taking handwritten notes. These notes will aid in revisiting concepts during revisions.

  • Engage in numerous practice tests and mock exams, and don't overlook solving previous years' NEET question papers. These papers hold valuable insights.

  • Lastly, revision is paramount. Without revisiting concepts, they tend to fade from memory. Efficient revision ensures better retention and understanding of subjects.

Why Can't the NEET UG Exam Be Held Twice? NMC's (National Medical Commission) Response

The National Medical Commission has clarified that conducting the NEET UG exam twice a year is not feasible. This is primarily because all the available MBBS seats get occupied during the counseling process. The NMC's response comes in reply to a request from the All India Student Union, a student organization that proposed having the NEET UG exam twice annually.

The NMC emphasized that organizing the NEET UG exam demands substantial resources, and conducting it twice would place an excessive financial burden on the government. Meanwhile, the NMC has recently withdrawn the Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023. It has also sought input from stakeholders regarding revised regulations for the Competency-Based Medical Education Curriculum, Minimum Standard Conditions for establishing new medical colleges or enhancing MBBS course seats, and maintaining standards of medical education in 2023.

NEET 2024 Counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) oversees the NEET 2024 counselling process, which allocates seats based on scores. For 15% of All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government colleges and all seats in deemed/central universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, and AFMS, MCC handles counselling. State counselling authorities manage the remaining 85% state quota seats.

NEET AIQ counselling 2024 encompasses four rounds: rounds 1, 2, mop-up, and stray vacancies. Seat allocation considers applicants' choices, NEET 2024 rank, seat availability, and reservations. The process involves registration, course selection, and fee payment.

Those eligible for NEET 2024 All India Quota can partake in the counselling. Unfilled seats from AIQ counselling's second round will revert to states.

AIQ for NEET 2024 counselling covers:

  • 15% MBBS/BDS Seats of States

  • 100% MBBS/BDS Seats of BHU

  • 100% MBBS Seats of AIIMS across India

  • All India Quota of JIPMER (Puducherry/Karaikal)

  • All India Quota seats of AMU/DU/VMMC/ABVIMS

  • All India Quota Seats of Faculty of Dentistry (Jamia Millia Islamia)

  • All India Quota Seats of ESIC

Conclusion

In the journey towards NEET 2024, understanding the exam date, eligibility criteria, syllabus, and effective preparation tips are vital for success. The rigorous competition demands early planning and a strategic approach. By grasping the exam pattern, and syllabus weightage, and focusing on strong and weak areas, aspirants can optimize their study plan. Balancing board exam preparation alongside NEET studies is key. The right study resources, self-study, and ample practice enhance readiness. Embracing handwritten notes and consistent revisions amplify conceptual clarity. As the exam date approaches, the amalgamation of diligence, guidance, and practice paves the path for a confident and well-prepared performance in NEET 2024.
