उत्तर: लेखक जिन दिनों बेरोजगार थे, उन दिनों किसी ने उन्हें कटु बातें की होंगी जिसे वे बर्दाश्त नहीं कर पाए होंगे और दिल्ली चले आए होंगे।

2. लेखक को अंग्रेज़ी में कविता लिखने का अफ़सोस क्यों रहा होगा?

उत्तर: दिल्ली के उकील आर्ट स्कूल में बच्चन जी लेखक के लिए एक नोट छोड़कर गए थे। उस नोट में शायद उन्होंने लिखा होगा कि तुम इलाहाबाद आ जाओ। लेखन में ही तुम्हारा भविष्य है। संघर्ष करने वाले ही जीवन पथ पर आगे बढ़ते हैं। अत: मेहनत करो सफलता अवश्य तुम्हारे कदम चूमेगी।

4. लेखक ने बच्चन के व्यक्तित्व के किन-किन रूपों को उभारा है?

उत्तर: लेखक ने बच्चन के व्यक्तित्व के अनेक रूपों को उभारा है-

1) बच्चन का स्वभाव संघर्षशील, परोपकारी और फ़ौलादी संकल्प वाला था।

2) बच्चन जी समय के अत्यंत पाबन्द होने के साथ-साथ कला-प्रतिभा के भी पारखी थे। उन्होंने लेखक द्वारा लिखे एक ही सॉनेट को पढ़कर उनकी कला- प्रतिभा की पहचान की थी।

3) बच्चन जी अत्यंत कोमल एवं सहृदय व्यक्ति थे।

4) वे हृदय से ही नहीं, कर्म से भी परम सहयोगी थे। उन्होंने न केवल लेखक को इलाहाबाद बुलाया बल्कि लेखक की पढ़ाई की सारी ज़िम्मेदारी भी उठा ली।

5. बच्चन के अतिरिक्त लेखक को अन्य किन लोगों का तथा किस प्रकार का सहयोग मिला?

उत्तर: लेखक को बच्चन के अतिरिक्त निम्नलिखित लोगों का सहयोग प्राप्त हुआ- 

तेजबहादुर सिंह - यह लेखक के बड़े भाई थे। ये आर्थिक तंगी के दिनों में उन्हें कुछ रूपये भेजकर उनका साथ देते थे। 

बच्चन के पिता - जब लेखक इलाहाबाद में आकर बस गए तो उन्हें स्थानीय अभिभावक की आवश्यकता थी। तब हरिवंशराय बच्चन के पिता ने उनका अभिभावक बनना स्वीकार किया।

सुमित्रानंदन पंत और निराला जी- लेखक को इलाहाबाद में पंत जी और निराला जी जैसे हिंदी के सुप्रसिद्ध कवियों का सान्निध्य प्राप्त हुआ, जिन्होंने हिन्दी लेखन में लेखक का भरपूर साथ दिया। सुमित्रानंदन पंत ने लेखक को इंडियन प्रेस में अनुवाद का काम भी दिला दिया। उन्होंने लेखक के द्वारा लिखी कविताओं में कुछ संशोधन भी किया। 

ससुराल पक्ष- जिन दिनों विधुर लेखक आजीविका कमाने के लिए संघर्ष कर रहे थे, तब ससुराल वालों ने उन्हें अपनी दुकान पर कम्पाउंडरी का प्रशिक्षण दिया। बच्चन जी-लेखक को सबसे ज़्यादा सहयोग बच्चन जी के द्वारा प्राप्त हुआ। जिन्होंने इलाहबाद बुलाकर लेखक को एम. ए करने के लिए प्रेरित किया और पढ़ाई का पूरा खर्चा उठाया और कदम-कदम पर अपना मार्गदर्शन और सहयोग प्रदान किया।

6. लेखक के हिंदी लेखन में कदम रखने का क्रमानुसार वर्णन कीजिये।

उत्तर:  मित्रों का सहयोग, इलाहाबाद का संस्कार तथा हिन्दी कविता का वातावरण और प्रोत्साहन पाकर लेखक हिन्दी में रचनाएँ करने लगे।

• सन १९३३ में लेखक की कुछ कविताएँ 'सरस्वती व चाँद' पत्रिका में छपी।

• १९३७ में लेखक ने बच्चन जी के बताए अनुसार १४ पंक्तियों की कविता को लिखने की कोशिश की।

लेखक ने 'निशा निमंत्रण के कवि' के प्रति एक कविता लिखी जिस पर पंत जी के कुछ संशोधन भी हुए, पर अप्रकाशित रही।

- फिर लेखक 'रूपाभ' के ऑफिस में प्रशिक्षण लेकर बनारस से प्रकाशित हंस के कार्यालय में काम सँभाला।

7. लेखक ने अपने जीवन में जिन कठिनाइयों को झेला है, उनके बारे में लिखिए।

उत्तर: पाठ पढ़ने पर हमें लेखक के जीवन की कठिनाईयों के बारे में पता चलता है। बेरोजगारी के दिनों में व्यंग्य बाणों को झेलना पड़ता था। लेखक को अपने शुरुआत के दिनों में आर्थिक समस्याओं से जूझना पड़ा था। साइन बोर्ड पेंट करके अपना गुजारा चलाना पड़ता था। लेखक की पत्नी की टी.बी. की कारण मृत्यु हो गई थी, और वे युवावस्था में ही विधुर हो गए। इसलिए उन्हें पत्नी-वियोग की पीड़ा को भी झेलना पड़ा। बच्चन जी के आग्रह पर जब वे इलाहाबाद आए तब भी वे आर्थिक समस्या से जूझ रहे थे। बच्चन जी ने उनकी पढ़ाई का सारा खर्च उठाया था। इस प्रकार उनके प्रारम्भ के दिन आर्थिक कठिनाईयों में बीते।
