Class 9 Hindi Syllabus 2026-27 Updated Sections, Weightage and Marks

The CBSE Class 9 Hindi syllabus 2026-27 is offered in two parts, R1 and R2, and students study the combination prescribed by their school. The syllabus has an 80-mark theory paper along with 20 marks for internal assessment.

The Class 9 Hindi syllabus 2026-27 is divided into four sections: unseen passages, practical grammar, textbook literature and writing skills. Knowing how the marks are split across R1 and R2 helps students focus on the right areas while revising.

Key Changes in CBSE Class 9 Hindi Syllabus 2026-27

CBSE has introduced significant structural changes to the Class 9 Hindi curriculum for 2026-27, aligned with the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF). Students and parents should take note of these updates before beginning the academic year:

Single Integrated Curriculum
The earlier four-textbook pattern - which included Kshitij, Kritika, Sparsh and Sanchayan - has been discontinued. The Hindi curriculum is now consolidated into a single, unified structure, simplifying what students need to cover and reducing the subject load spread across multiple books.

New Textbook: Ganga
In place of the four separate textbooks, NCERT has introduced a single unified textbook named Ganga for Class 9 Hindi. This new book integrates literature, prose, poetry and supplementary reading into one cohesive resource, making preparation more streamlined for students.

R1 and R2 Language Framework
As part of the new National Curriculum Framework guidelines, languages are now categorised under two levels — R1 (primary/extensive) and R2 (secondary/functional). Hindi as a subject now falls within this framework, reflecting a broader shift in how language learning is structured and assessed across CBSE schools.

2	व्याकरण के लिए निर्धारित विषयों पर विषयवस्तु का बोध, भाषिक बिंदु/संरचना आदि पर अतिलघूत्तरात्मक एवं लघूत्तरात्मक प्रश्न (1X16 = 16) कुल 20 प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे, जिनमें से केवल 16 प्रश्नों के उत्तर देने होंगे।
(i)	शब्द-निर्माण — उपसर्ग - 2 अंक, प्रत्यय - 2 अंक (5 प्रश्नों में से 4 प्रश्न करने होंगे)	4
(ii)	संज्ञा, सर्वनाम, विशेषण, क्रिया (5 प्रश्नों में से 4 प्रश्न करने होंगे)	4

(i)	विभिन्न विषयों और संदर्भों पर विद्यार्थियों के तर्कसंगत विचार प्रकट करने की क्षमता को परखने के लिए संकेत-बिंदुओं पर आधारित सामाजिक एवं व्यावहारिक जीवन से जुड़े हुए तीन विषयों में से किसी एक विषय पर लगभग 120 शब्दों में अनुच्छेद लेखन।	5
(ii)	अभिव्यक्ति की क्षमता पर केंद्रित अनौपचारिक दो विषयों में से किसी एक विषय पर लगभग 100 शब्दों में पत्र लेखन। (विकल्प सहित)	5
(iii)	दिए गए विषय / परिस्थिति के आधार पर लगभग 80 शब्दों में संवाद लेखन। (विकल्प सहित)	5

राष्ट्रीय शैक्षिक अनुसंधान केंद्र द्वारा राष्ट्रीय पाठ्यचर्या की रूपरेखा 2023 के आधार पर जारी की गई पाठ्यपुस्तक के आधार पर साहित्य से संबंधित अध्ययन किया जाए।

Vyavaharik Vyakaran (व्यावहारिक व्याकरण) in the Class 9 Hindi A Syllabus

The grammar section carries 16 marks and is the most predictable part of the paper, since every answer follows a fixed rule. The prescribed topics are:

उपसर्ग और प्रत्यय (prefixes and suffixes)
समास (compound words and their types)
अर्थ के आधार पर वाक्य भेद (types of sentences based on meaning)
अलंकार (figures of speech, mainly arthalankar)

Practising a few examples of each daily is enough to secure close to full marks here, as these questions are objective and rule-based.

Rachnatmak Lekhan (रचनात्मक लेखन) Topics in the Class 9 Hindi A Syllabus

The writing section carries 20 marks and is entirely format-driven, which makes it fully scoring with practice. It usually includes:

अनुच्छेद लेखन (paragraph writing on a given topic)
पत्र लेखन (formal and informal letters)
चित्र वर्णन (picture description)
संवाद लेखन (dialogue writing)
सूचना, विज्ञापन or ई-मेल लेखन, as prescribed

Marks are awarded for correct format, word limit and clean language, so writing two or three samples of each type before the exam is usually enough.
