Hint: Earth’s rotation is the rotation of the planet Earth around its own axis. We know about the basics of Earth rotation. As we experience day and night is due to rotation of Earth. To solve this problem we should know about graphical presentation of direction in paper.
Complete step by step solution:
As we viewed above the North Pole, the Earth rotates counterclockwise, from the west to east. This is also called a Prograde rotation.
We know that the Earth rotates once in twenty-four hours. As, the rotation of the earth in the direction from west to east, and the moon, sun, and all other celestial bodies appear to move from east to west opposite to rotation of Earth. This is the main reason behind why the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
The rotation of the earth is the cause of the formation of the day and night. The direction of the earth’s rotation from west to east is viewed from the North Pole star Polaris.
Hence option (b) is the correct answer.
Note:
Planets are created in this solar system by phenomena of big bang. As all planets are part of the sun and all they rotate about the sun in an elliptical orbital. The force due to which all planets are attached to the sun is a gravitational force. Each planet revolves around the sun as well as they rotate about its own axis. Every planet in our solar system rotates from west to east except Venus and Uranus.
