Hint: Note and tone are two terms which are related to sound. So, in order to answer this question, we need to understand the concept of sound. Sound is defined as a vibration which propagates as an acoustic wave, through a transmission medium like a gas, liquid or solid.
Complete step by step answer:
Sound always needs a material medium to propagate. The matter through which sound propagates is known as a medium. Whenever the particles vibrate about their own mean positions, it pushes a region of compressed air, which creates a region of high pressure, which is further followed by a region of low pressure as the particle retreats back to its mean position.
There are five basic characteristics of sound waves are wavelength, amplitude, frequency, time period, and velocity. Note and tone are two terms which are related to the frequency of sound waves.
Note:
There are mainly two types of waves present in nature, namely, transverse waves and longitudinal waves. In transverse waves, the medium moves perpendicular to the direction of the wave. Whereas in longitudinal waves, the medium moves parallel to the direction of the wave.

Note of a sound | Tone of a sound |
The note is the absolute pitch of a sound, and corresponds to a particular frequency. | The tone is defined as the sound that is recognized by its regularity of vibrations. |
Note is also defined as the occurrence of a particular pitch. | The tone of a sound is the characteristic quality of the sound that signals to someone's ears what type of sound it is. |
A note is an elementary quantity. | A tone is formed by any two conjunct notes. |
Note:
There are mainly two types of waves present in nature, namely, transverse waves and longitudinal waves. In transverse waves, the medium moves perpendicular to the direction of the wave. Whereas in longitudinal waves, the medium moves parallel to the direction of the wave.
