Solution: 

Cost of 12 apples = Rs. 24

Cost of 1 apple = Rs. 24/12

                = Rs. 2

Cost of 31 apples = Rs. (31 x 2)

                    = Rs. 62

Ans. Ravi will have to pay Rs. 62 to buy 31 apples.


3. The price of 1 ink pen is Rs. 31. Tina wants to buy 12 ink pens for her brother. Calculate how much she will have to pay?

Solution: 

The price of 1 ink pen = Rs. 31

The price of 12 ink pens = Price of 10 ink pens + Price of 2 ink pens

                                = Rs. {(31 x 10) + 31 + 31}

                                = Rs. 310 + 31 + 31

                                = Rs. 372
