Hint:Here we will first try to understand what a RC circuit refers to and how does it work to find out its requirement in different circuits. The same we will understand for the RL circuit and then find out their usage.
Complete answer:
Let us have an elaborative approach to understand the meaning, working and the usage of a RC circuit.
1. RC circuit:
A resistor-capacitor circuit (RC Circuit) is an electrical circuit which consists of variable components like resistors and capacitors that are driven by the current source or the voltage source. The capacitor actually stores the energy while the resistor which is connected to the circuit controls the rate of charging or discharging.
Usage: It is used in windshield wipers of cars, in traffic lights, camera flashes, pacemaker of heart and various other electronic devices.
2. RL circuit:
RL Circuits (resistor – inductor circuit) also known as RL network or RL filter is a type of circuit which is having a combination of inductors and resistors that is driven by some power source.
Usage: Used as RF amplifier in DC regulated circuit, used in the chokes of tube lights and many more.
Hence, we have described the usage of both RC and RL circuits.
Note: It must be noted that an RL circuit is also described as an electric circuit with comprises resistance and self-inductance which is within itself. We also have circuits which is a combination of capacitance, inductance and resistance known as LCR circuit.
