JEE Mains 2026 Response Sheet Released: City Intimation Slip, Exam Dates, Syllabus & Eligibility

The National Testing Agency has released key updates for JEE Main 2026, covering the Session 1 response sheet, Session 2 application process, and the upcoming admit card and exam schedule.


For JEE Main 2026 Session 1, the response sheet was released on 4 February 2026 for exams held between 21 and 29 January 2026. The answer key challenge window is open from 4 February to 5 February 2026, allowing candidates to verify recorded responses and submit objections, if required.


The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 application form is available online from 1 February to 25 February 2026, with 25 February 2026 being the last date for fee payment. The Session 2 examination will be conducted between 2 April and 9 April 2026. Candidates who appeared in Session 1 can apply using existing login credentials, while new candidates must complete fresh registration at jeemain.nta.nic.in.


The JEE Main 2026 admit card will be released soon for session 2 after the city intimation slip is issued. The exam will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode, in two shifts per day. The syllabus and exam pattern remain as per the official information bulletin, with JEE Main conducted for admission to B.E. B.Tech B.Arch and B.Planning programmes.


JEE Main 2026 City Intimation Slip and Exam Dates

The National Testing Agency released the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 city intimation slip on 8 January 2026 on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Using this slip, candidates can check their allotted exam city and exam date for Session 1. The city intimation slip is issued before the admit card and does not include the exam centre address or detailed shift reporting instructions.


For JEE Main 2026 Session 2, NTA will similarly release a separate city intimation slip a few days before the April examination, which is scheduled to be held between 2 April and 9 April 2026. Session 2 candidates will be able to view their exam city and exam date through the official portal, while complete centre details and reporting time will be provided later through the Session 2 admit card.

What is JEE Mains 2026?

JEE Mains 2026 is a national-level entrance examination organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate programs in engineering and architecture. The JEE Main 2026 exam will primarily be conducted in a computer-based format, except for the Drawing section of Paper 2, which will be administered in a pen-and-paper format. JEE Main 2026 Eligibility Criteria- Who Can Apply?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official JEE Mains 2026 eligibility criteria for students planning to appear in the exam. Before filling the application form, candidates must go through the detailed eligibility conditions, such as educational qualification, age limit, number of attempts, and required subjects.

  • Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens. Foreign Nationals, NRIs, PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), and OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India) are also eligible to apply.

  • Educational Qualification: Students who have passed or are appearing in Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible.

  • Age Limit: There is no age limit for appearing in the JEE Main 2026 exam. However, candidates must satisfy the age criteria of the institute they seek admission.

  • Number of Attempts: Candidates can appear in JEE Main for three consecutive years from the year they pass Class 12.

  • Minimum Marks: There is no minimum percentage requirement in Class 12 to appear for JEE Main.

  • Exam Boards: The qualifying examination must be from a recognised Central or State Board (CBSE, ICSE, NIOS, or State Boards).

  • JEE Main 75% Marks Rule: The 75% marks rule is not applicable for appearing in the JEE Main exam. However, to secure admission into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, candidates must score at least:

  • 75% marks in Class 12 (for the General category) or

  • 65% marks (for SC/ST category)
