If the government perceives a threat to VIPs, it is the government's job to provide protection. A person who has been threatened files a police report at the police station closest to his or her home. The case is then forwarded to intelligence agencies to determine the threat posed to the individual.

When a threat is confirmed, a committee composed of the state's Home Secretary, Director General, and Chief Secretary determines which level of security should be assigned to the individual. Following that, the person's information is forwarded to the Union Home Ministry for formal permission.

How is Security Entitled to the VIPs?

It is the government's responsibility to protect VIPs if the government sees a threat. A person who has been threatened should submit a police report at the nearest police station. After that, the case is referred to intelligence agencies to establish the level of threat that the subject poses. When a danger is confirmed, a committee made up of the state's Home Secretary, Director General, and Chief Secretary decides what level of security the individual should be allocated. The individual's information is then transmitted to the Union Home Ministry for formal approval.

Which Agencies are Responsible for VIPs' Security?

VIP security is provided by a variety of agencies, including the ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), SPG (Special Protection Group), NSG (National Security Guards), and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). Highly specialised individuals/leaders/players, as well as movie stars, are protected under the 'Z +' category. On a wide scale, NSG extends the 'Z Plus' category security to VIPs and VVIPs. The Prime Minister is additionally protected by the Special Protection Group (SPG), which is made up of many NSG commandos.

The National Security Group (NSG) is the country's most advanced security unit, providing protection to those who have a high threat perception. However, the number of people requesting Z-plus category protection has been rising in recent years, and as a result, CISF soldiers have been enlisted to help relieve the NSG strain. It can be claimed that the duty of VVIP security on the CISF is becoming increasingly difficult.

Here’s how it works for who get z+ z y and x security in India and why? Do you realise that if a person qualifies for Z+ category security, he or she will be protected throughout the country? There is a procedure in place to deal with this. As previously stated, security agencies such as the NSG or CISF are deployed in the Z+ category of security, but when a person leaves the state, only a few commandos accompany them; the rest is the obligation of the state to provide security. However, VIPs must alert the state ahead of time of the excursion. Such security precautions are never made public.

The Different Categories of Security

1. Z+ category Security

In India, Z+ is the highest level of security. It has a security team of 55 people, including 10 NSG commandos and police officers. Each commando is a master of unarmed warfare and martial arts. NSG commandos with advanced MP5 rifles and contemporary communication devices provide protection for Z+. Only 10-17 VIPs in the country are provided with Z+ security. This includes PM Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and a few more.

2. Z category Security

The second level of security is this. A security cover of 22 personnel is provided by the Z category, which includes 4 or 5 NSG Commandos plus police troops. The Delhi police, the ITBP, or the CRPF furnish it, along with one escort car. Yoga Guru Ramdev and other actors are protected by Z security.

3. Y category Security

This is security level three. The security cover for the Y category is 11 people, including 1 or 2 commandos and police officers. Two personal security personnel are available (PSOs). This type of protection is available to a large number of people in India.

4. X category Security

This is the fourth security level. The X category has a two-person security cover (No Commando, Only Armed Police Personnel). It is supplied by a single PSO (personal security officer). In India, a large number of people benefit from this type of protection.

The Prime Minister, past Prime Minister, and members of their immediate families, on the other hand, are protected by the Special Protection Group (SPG). Many NSG soldiers are actually seconded to the Prime Minister's Special Protection Group (SPG). However, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her family have been granted this privilege due to some special legal requirements.

So those are the many types of security coverage available in India.
