Introduction to Chapter

A circle's properties are described in Chapter 10 of Class 10 Maths. The chapter discusses tangents to a circle and their existence. During this course, students learn some complex concepts such as tangents, tangents to circular shapes, and the number of tangents from a point on a circle. There are many diagrams and geometrical calculations in this chapter, so it seems very interesting.

This NCERT book of Class 10 Maths Chapter 10 includes a number of tricky concept questions on circles that will help you clear up any confusion while you are studying. It is recommended that students study these solutions from the ones given by Vedantu to become familiar with alternatives to conventional approaches.

The Sub-topics covered in NCERT Class 10-Circles

  • Circular Sets-A circle is a set of all points that are equally distant from one another. In a circle, all of the points are equidistant from the center, and from that point to the circle is the radius. Circles do not have other letters besides 'c'.

  • A tangent line to a circle is a line that touches the circle at exactly one point, never entering the circle's interior.

  • Numerical Value for Tangents from a Point on a Circle

An entire chapter in two concentric circles is summarized as follows.

  • One of the chords of the larger circle, which touches the smaller circle, is broken at the point of contact.

  • An end tangent and a diameter tangent drawn at the same time are parallel.

  • At the point of contact to the circle's tangent, the perpendicular passes through the centre.

  • The angle subtended by the line segment connecting the points of contact at the centre is supplementary to the angle subtended by the two tangents forming a circle.

  • Rhombuses are parallelograms that circumscribe circles.

  • Quadrilateral sides emphasizing supplementary angles at a circle's centre correspond to opposite sides of the quadrilateral.

FAQs on Ncert Books Class 10 Maths Chapter 10 Free Download

1. What is the number of theorems to be proved in Chapter 10 Circles for Class 10?

In board exams, there are two theorems that must be proved.

The following are the tangent theorems:

  • In geometry, a circle is tangent when the radius is perpendicular to the circle at its point of contact, or when the radius is perpendicular to a line along the circle at its endpoint.
  • If tangents drawn to a circle from points outside of it are equal in length, or tangents drawn to a circle from points outside of it are equal in length

2. How many exercise circles are included for Chapter 10 of Class 10?

You will have to do two exercises in Class 10 Chapter 10 Circles.

As you can see, the first exercise (Ex 10.1) is only four questions involving all the parts of the chapter, so it's not a very comprehensive exercise

The second exercise (Ex 10.2) features 13 questions that address important topics with challenging exercises

There are, therefore, 17 questions in chapter 10 Circles (class 10) overall.

Within Class 10 Chapter 10 Circles, there are only a total of three examples (examples 1, 2 and 3).
