Solution:-

From the question,

a = 78 and b = 12

To verify

a – (- b) = a + b

We have,

LHS = a – (- b)

= 78 – (- 12)

= 78 + 12

= 90

Now,

RHS = a + b

= 78 + 12

= 90

By comparing LHS and RHS

LHS = RHS

90 = 90

Hence verified.
