Class 1 Chapter 14 CBSE Hindi Worksheets - Ek Budhiya

Summary:

The 14th chapter of Class 1 CBSE is an eight-line poem called, “Ek Budhiya”. The poem is written in a total of four rhyming couplets. The poem seems simple but has a deep meaning hidden inside it. But before going deep, let us first look at the brief summary of the poem.

There was one “Budhiya” (which is the Hindi word for an “old-woman”) who did not have a name. She used to be free all day long, she had nothing to do in her life, not a single kind of work she had. Now, since she did not have any work to do she was resting all the time, therefore, there was no rest for her, because only those who work can have a rest. If you are sitting on the couch all day long, you cannot say that you are resting, but if you have studied hard and are now taking a nap for half an hour you can say you are resting. Hence, for this Budhiya, the old-woman every time of the day was the same. The day and night, noon and evening, everything was just the same.

Exercise:

The 14th chapter of Class 1 CBSE “Ek Budhiya” has a total of two main exercises.

The very first topic of the exercise is rather a creative one. It actually consists of two questions.

The first one is “Naam batao” (suggest a name) . It asks you to name the nameless old woman. You may gather all your creative tools together to answer this question.
The second one is “kaam batao” (suggest a work) that asks you to suggest work for the old woman since she was free all day long.

The second one is “Kaam karo kuch kaam karo” Just like the first one it again has two questions.

The first question asks you to name two of your family members who do most of the work. Those two members can be anyone like your father and mother, or brother and sister or even you if you are doing work in the home.
The second question is kind of opposed to the first one. It asks you to write the names of two of your family members who take more than anyone else. Again, you can name anyone who you think takes the most of the rest.
