FAQs on English Grammar Class 1 Noun - PDF
1. What are the different types of nouns?
There are mainly two different kinds of nouns, as explained below:
Common Noun - This noun talks about people, things, and places in general such as women, men, paper, school, mouse, etc.
Proper Nouns - When you specifically name a person, thing, or palace, it becomes a proper noun for example, Ahmad, London, etc. Proper nouns always begin with a capital letter. Days of the week, months in a year, and festivals also come under proper nouns.
2. What are gerunds?
When you change a verb to form a noun by adding "ing" to the verb, such words are termed gerund. For instance, go -> going, write -> writing, live -> living, etc. Some examples of converting a verb to noun form in a sentence are "I like to read" (verb) -> "I like reading" (noun).
3. How can I, as a parent, teach nouns to my child in a fun way?
You can teach nouns to your children with pictures, conversation from real life, and exercises like sorting, scavenger hunting, matching common and proper nouns, etc.
Use objects in your room to help kids understand nouns. Ask kids to look around the room and name the things that they see.
You could mix nouns and verbs together and do a sorting game of picking out just the naming words from the lot.
Prepare many word cards that belong to three categories, i.e., people, places, or things, and then ask the child to pick a word and keep it in the correct category.
