उत्तर: हुदहुद की चोंच नाखून काटने वाली 'नहरनी' से काफी मिलती-जुलती है, इसलिए इसे कुछ जगहों पर 'जामिन' चिड़िया के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इसके अलावा, दूब में कीड़ा खोजने के कारण इसे हमारे देश में कुछ स्थानों पर 'पदुबया' भी कहा जाता है।
(ख) हुदहुद की चोंच पतली, लंबी और तीखी होती है। इस बात को ध्यान में रखकर बताओ
वे कैसा भोजन खाते होंगे?
चोंच से वे क्या-क्या काम ले सकते होंगे?
उत्तर:
वे छोटे-छोटे कीड़े और मकोड़े खाते हैं। अपनी चोंच का उपयोग वे जमीन के नीचे छिपे कीड़ों और मकोड़ों को खोजने के लिए करते हैं। दुश्मनों से अपनी रक्षा करने के लिए भी वे इसी चोंच का इस्तेमाल करते हैं।

उत्तर: हुदहुद की पहचान के लिए बताना चाहिए कि इसके सिर पर एक कलगी होती है। इसका पूरा शरीर रंग-बिरंगा और चमकीला होता है। इसके पंख काले होते हैं, जिन पर मोटी सफेद धारियाँ होती हैं। इसकी चोंच पतली, लंबी और तीखी होती है। बोलते समय, यह तीन बार 'हुप-हुप-हुप' की आवाज निकालता है।
(ख) अब कौवे या कबूतर को पहचानने के लिए चार-पाँच बिंदू लिखो। यह लिखने के लिए तुम्हें इन पक्षियों को कुछ समय तक बहुत गौर से देखना होगा।
उत्तर: कौवे की पहचान इस तरह की जाएगी:
इसका पूरा शरीर काला होता है।
इसकी चोंच काली, लंबी और नुकीली होती है।
यह 'काँव-कॉव' की आवाज करता है।
इसकी आवाज में मिठास नहीं होती है।
