What are Ones Tens Hundred?

We follow and use the decimal system of numbers. In this system, the numbers progress a unit or one at a time and reach the multiple of time. It means from 0 to 9 we have a single-digit number. When it reaches 10, we start counting two-digit numbers. When it reaches 100, we start counting three-digit numbers.


For example, consider 123. In words, it is one hundred and twenty three. Here, 3 is in the ones or unit’s place. 2 is in the tens place and 1 is in the hundred’s place.


To make learning the number progression in the decimal system easier, the digits in the numbers are defined using their positions. The first one from the right is one's place. The second is the tens place and the third one is the hundredth place.


Learning this concept will enable the students of the KG-3 level to learn the higher concepts of mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. By using the positions or places of the digits in a number, they will learn to solve problems accordingly.
