List of All 400 Plus Scoring Teams in the ODI Matches

ODI or one-day international match is a form of Cricket where the two teams (with global status) play for a limited number of overs. It is one of the formats of Cricket, which are recognized officially and played between two teams having 11 players each. In general, ODI matches are played for a maximum of 50 overs (per team innings) or until all the team players get out (whichever is first). One-day internationals are also given the name of LOI, i.e., Limited Overs Internationals through LOI is a generic term used in T20 matches.

Ever Since the advent of T20 matches, it has been speculated that the popularity of ODI matches would decline as the public would lose interest in this "middle" format. But the outstanding success of the ODI World Cup of 2011 and the 2013 Champions trophy has made it clear that ODI is alive and kicking and very much here to stay. This article will acquaint you with the list of all 400 plus team scores in the ODI matches. Along with the list of all 400 plus team scores, we will list all the matches with scores in which India secured more than 400 runs.

Why does ODI have an Important Place in the Game of Cricket?

The top reasons why ODI will always remain an integral part of Cricket are mentioned below:

  • ODI has the much-needed balance of quality and entertainment - Those who crave fun in Cricket love T20s while purists deem test cricket the most demanding format of cricket game. The ODI has a perfect blend of both formats and connects the two extreme formats of the game. The ICC (International Cricket Council) wants to make sure that ODI remains a bridge between followers of both formats.

  • The ODI World Cup attracts the entire planet - World cups are played in ODI format, and cricket lovers have a special place for World Cups, which is in the same league as other globally played world cups like rugby and football. Despite the tremendous popularity of T20, the ODI World cup is still the biggest event in the cricket world and has a great legacy.

  • ODI helps spread the game of Cricket in new centers - For those nations where Cricket is not so popular or not played, the ODI format can be played more easily as the game gets over in just one day. This would enhance and add up the spectators' interest in Cricket. The ODI format can also be used at the domestic level to involve more players in this sport.

  • ODI has a balance between batsmen and bowler show of prowess - In T20, it's always the batsmen ruling over bowlers since a power hitter can be a game-changer with their fierce blows. But with the ODI format, there is a better balance of both game disciplines since bowlers have more overs where they can showcase their skills better. Bowlers get enough time to get into the game’s rhythm, and batters do not get the upper hand with just a few swings of their bats.
