3. Short Answer Questions.

1. Sabina cycles 160 km in 20 days, cycling the same distance each day. How many kilometres does she cycle per day?

Answer: Total distance = 160 km and total days = 20. Distance per day = 160 ÷ 20 = 8 km. Therefore, Sabina cycles 8 km each day.

2. After selling 582 out of 1,117 coconuts, how many coconuts are left? If each bag can hold 25 coconuts, how many bags are needed?

Answer: Remaining coconuts = 1,117 – 582 = 535. Number of bags needed = 535 ÷ 25 = 21 bags with 10 coconuts left over, so 22 bags are needed to pack all coconuts.

3. Rani has 250 guests and wants to buy packs of 6 or 8 samosas. Which pack should she buy so that each person gets one samosa, and is there any wastage?

Answer: Number of 6-piece packs: 250 ÷ 6 = 41 packs, leaves a remainder of 4. Number of 8-piece packs: 250 ÷ 8 = 31 packs, remainder 2. She can choose any, but both will have some extra samosas left over.

4. Sofia has only ₹50 and ₹20 notes to pay ₹520. How many of each note can she use?
