The Son Father Love Story

The Father and the Crow

One day, an old man was sitting beside a window in his home. He was accompanied by his adult son. His son was working on a file.

The old man saw a crow cawing outside the window. He was curious. He asked his son, “What is that bird, son?” The educated and highly achieved son replied, “That’s a crow, father.”

After a while, the man said to his son, “What is that thing outside the window?”

The son was busy reading a newspaper. He lifted his head and said, “That is the same crow, father.”

After a few minutes, the old father asked the same question. He pointed at the window and asked, “What is that black thing, son?”

This time the son could not take it anymore. He was irritated and yelled at his father, “How many times do I have to tell you that it is a crow? It is a crow, dad, a crow that you cannot even understand.”

He took the newspaper and sat again on the couch to read it with disgust.

The Old Man’s Reply

The old man was sad and did not say a word. He struggled and lifted himself from the chair and went to his bedroom.

The house was big. It took him a little time to reach his room. He then reached into his cupboard and pulled out a drawer. He was doing something that made some sounds.

The son was intrigued by the sound and went into the room to check what his father was doing. To his surprise, he saw his father taking an old ragged diary.

He took out a page dated 25 years from the same date that day. There was an entry with a picture.

The entry said, “Today, my son learned what a crow is. He is 3 years old and so intelligent. It took him 23 times to understand what a crow is and what it looks like. I explained it to him outside in the garden. He hugged me with love when he got it. I am so happy.”

The son burst into tears. The old man was not out of his mind. He was just trying to celebrate the day his son learned about a crow. He also tried to do the same, but his son made a big scene out of it.

The son understood his mistake and apologized. He realized that his father is not going to be there for long, and he needed to take care of him even more. It is the immortal father's love for his son that changed him that day.
