Hint: Preparation of soil is the process of preparing soil for a healthy crop which is performed before the process of sowing seeds. Weeding and threshing are processes that involve removal of undesirable plants and separation of grain seeds from chaff respectively.
Complete answer:
a) Preparation of soil: Before growing any crop the first step is to prepare the soil. A vital step in agriculture is to turn and loosen the soil in order to allow the deep penetration of roots into the soil. In addition to this, the loosened soil helps in promoting the growth of earthworms and microbes in the soil which in turn helps in enrichment of the soil with humus and other essential nutrients. The process involving the turning and loosening of soil is termed as ploughing, which is performed with help of a plough, hoe and cultivators.
b) Sowing: It is a crucial part of crop production. Seeds of good quality, healthy variety which can produce high yield. Sowing can be described as putting seeds into the soil, which can be performed with the help of traditional tools like funnel-shape tools or modern tools like a seed drill along with a tractor. These tools function in sowing the seeds uniformly at a proper depth and distance.
c) Weeding: The process of removal of undesirable plants that can be observed growing along with a crop is termed as weeding. There are different methods adopted by farmers in order to control growth of weeds as they act as competitors for crops in terms of nutrients. Few methods for removal of weeds include performing tilling before sowing of crops, removal of weeds manually by uprooting or cutting them close to the ground, by using certain chemicals to remove weeds termed as weedicides.
d) Threshing: The process in which separation of grain seeds from the chaff is performed is termed as threshing. It is performed using a machine termed as 'Combine' after harvesting the crop. ‘Combine’ is a machine that includes a combination of harvester and thresher which performs both harvesting of plants as well as cleaning of grains.
Note:
The process of ploughing is performed using a plough or cultivar followed by the process of breaking the soil crumbs by a leveller in order to facilitate the process of sowing and irrigation. Broadcasting can be described as a method of scattering of seeds over the field.
