Hint: Layer which accounts for 19% of the atmospheric gases contains the ozone layer and this layer is also suitable for flying jet aircrafts.
Complete Step to Step Solutions:
Since childhood we have heard a lot about atmosphere like it is a cover of gases up to the height of 1600 km above earth surface and protects life on earth from harmful radiations coming from outer space or from sun. We also know that here are 4 regions in which our atmosphere is divided which are as follows:
Firstly, the Troposphere- This is the most important region of the atmosphere because it is the domain of all living organisms. Also, this is the region of atmosphere which is adversely affected by air pollution and as we go above in this region temperature decreases and extends up to 11 km.
Next, Stratosphere- This is the region in which the ozone layer. Ozone layer absorbs harmful ultraviolet radiations coming from the sun. This region extends from 11 km to 50 km above earth’s surface.
The other two regions namely mesosphere and exosphere are collectively known as ionosphere.
In these both regions, gases are present in ionized form. Basically, these ions reflect back the radio waves to earth. The altitude of the mesosphere from earth’s surface extends from 50-85 km while for exosphere it is from 85-500 km.
Therefore, we can now easily conclude that option A is the correct answer.
Note: It should be remembered that due to the presence of the ozone layer, the stratosphere is also known as ozonosphere.
