Hint:Kannada Rajyotsava is celebrated because, in 1956, all the Kannada speaking regions were merged together as a state, that is -Karnataka. It is revered as a government holiday in Karnataka. It’s popularity is vast as it can be seen that it is celebrated by Kannadigas across the world.

Complete answer:
Kannada Rajyotsava is celebrated on November 1 every year. Presentation occurs on the honours list for Rajyotsava Awards by the Government of Karnataka, official Karnataka flag is hoisted with an address from the Chief Minister and Governor of the state.
In 1906, Aluru Rao wanted to unify Karnataka through the Karnataka Ekikarana movement. By 1950, India was a republic, and the state of Mysore was formed on linguistic basis. On November 1, the Mysore state was divided and merged with Kannada-speaking areas of the Bombay, principality of Hyderabad and Madras presidencies to unify a state. The three major regions of the Mysore state became North Karnataka, Malnad (Canara) and old Mysore. However, the people of North Karnataka were unhappy with this decision of the retention of the name - Mysore.
Finally, on 1 November, 1973, the name of the state was changed to Karnataka. Devaraj Arastu became the Chief Minister of the state. Littérateurs like K. Shivaram Karanth, Kuvempu, Masti Venkatesha Iyengar, A. N. Krishna Rao and B. M. Srikantaiah were also majorly involved in the process of unification.

Hence, the correct answer is option (A).

Note: On November 1, the Kannada flag is hoisted and the Kannada anthem is sung. The celebrations don’t possess a communal angle. There are color processions across the state.
