Hint: As we know that mixing two or more substances of same or different nature and properties is known as a mixture. These mixtures can be classified into separable and inseparable mixtures on the basis of separation of all the components that it has to their original form.
Complete answer:
There are various methods by which one can separate of mixture into its distinct components and here we are asked to separate a mixture of sand and salt which can be done in the following manner:-
-First of all we will take some amount of water and pour it into the beaker. Mix it thoroughly so that the salt in the mixture can dissolve easily into it.
-Now we will follow the process of decantation which is a process of separating a solid-liquid mixture. As we know that the solid particles can settle down due to gravity when kept still for some time. The salt solution can be easily separated out by transferring the liquid floating above the sediments or particles of sand into another beaker and hence the solution gets collected and separated easily from sand.
-Now we will dry the sand in one beaker and keep another beaker of solution in sunlight or for heating so that the water can evaporate in the atmosphere, leaving the salt in the beaker. This is how we can separate a mixture of salt and sand.
Note:
-Whenever we are asked about the separation of any salt from sand, we can easily follow the process of decantation (solution of salt) and evaporation.
-While pouring the clear solution to another beaker, we can also use filter paper so that the sand particles do not get transferred.
