The Old Major had envisioned a human-free world in which the animals ruled themselves, a world free of tyranny and filled with peace. He was the one who instigated the Rebellion's feelings. When he died after the Uprising, however, the pigs began to claim their supremacy.

They were thought to be the smartest, so dreaming and planning were their primary tasks. The pigs refused to do any other work and informed the other animals that they needed all of the milk and apples because they were the farm's think tank. Snowball, without a doubt, was the most patriotic of them all, and he did and arranged many things for the Animal Farm's betterment.

Also, he was accused of being selfish because all the milk and windfall apples went to the pigs, despite the fact that he accepted that they were the ones who needed them the most. Then his own comrade, Napoleon, overthrew him. No one dared to oppose him because he was backed by a pack of nine vicious dogs. He also had Squealer on his side, spreading his lies and deception. The pigs then started to prey on the farm's inhabitants.

They forced them to work for their own personal gain. Squealer persisted in disparaging Snowball in order to obtain further support for Napoleon. Animal Farm's animals were either too stupid or too trusting to see through their deception. The Seven Commandments then started to alter in accordance with the pigs' wishes. The Commandments shifted in their favor as they moved to the farmhouse.
Napoleon was also shown to be unconcerned about the farm animals, as he starved several hens to death after they rebelled against him. He broke yet another resolution by making trade deals with humans. The animals were once again told that it was necessary in order to finish the windmill, and they believed it.

Then there was the farm, where there was bloodshed. The animals were forced to tell lies and then executed for it. As a result, they died in order to spread more Napoleonic lies. A new commandment was added to the list. They even sold Boxer to a slaughterhouse, claiming that he would be well cared for in a Willingdon hospital. Boxer was the most dependable worker, but he was too old to help the pigs. They used the proceeds from the sale to purchase whisky. Almost every night, they were inebriated. They were having a nice time when the farm's other animals were suffering. Rations were often reduced, and other animals were forced to work longer hours. While the rest of the world went hungry, the pigs grew fatter and fatter. Finally, Napoleon was seen making friends with the humans. Pigs and humans at the group said demeaning things about the farm employees.

It was clear from their conversation that the pigs saw the animals as nothing more than staff. There was no longer any equality. There are no Commandments, and Animal Farm is not available for free. Thus, the pigs, led by Napoleon, misled the other animals of Animal Farm and gradually but steadily took control of the farm, living royally and luxuriously while others toiled away all day.
