Netaji took the charge of the Indian National Army and became its supreme commander in August 1943. The headquarters of Ina has been set up in Yangon and Singapore. Bose was addressed as Netaji ("Dear leader") by both INA soldiers and civilians, a term first used in Berlin by members of the Free India Legion. Bose proclaimed the establishment of the Provisional Government of Free India, or Arzi Hukumat-e-Azad Hind (also known as Azad Hind or Free India).
