Hint: Work is done when a force acts on an object causing displacement. To calculate the amount of work done we must know three basic quantities i.e. force, displacement and the angle between them.

Complete Solution :
Let us first understand what we mean by work and then define its SI unit.
Work-
Basically, work is the transfer of an object along some displacement when force is acted upon. So, more often it is represented as the product of force and displacement.

Characteristics-
-More precisely, work is the product of the component of the force in the direction of displacement and the magnitude of this displacement.
\[Work=Force\times Displacement\]
-Unit of work in its basic form is $Kg{{m}^{2}}{{s}^{-2}}$.
-SI unit is J.
-Dimension of work is $M{{L}^{2}}{{T}^{-2}}$.
Joule-
It is the derived unit in the SI system of units.
-In physics, it is equal to the product of newton and metre i.e. N.m
-In electrical terms, it is equal to one watt second i.e. W.s

So, we can say that:
1 J is the amount of work done when 1 N of force is acted upon an object to move it by 1 m of distance.
\[1J=1N\times 1m\]
So, now as we know,
Work is the transfer of energy thus, 1 J of energy transferred from one place to another 1 J of work done equivalently.

Additional Information:
-The other units of work are foot-pound and erg.
-The factors that could affect work are those on which work is purely dependable i.e. force, displacement and the angle between these vectors.

Note: Do note that work is equivalent or closely related to energy but it is not equal to energy. The work-energy theorem states that the work done on any object is perfectly equal to the change in energy of that object, kinetically.
