Hint: Adolescence is a period of age that can be described as the transition period wherein an individual changes from childhood to adulthood, which is normally the age of thirteen to nineteen years of age. During this period physiological and psychological changes take place in an individual.

Complete answer:
This adolescence period is also termed as teenage because it varies between thirteen to nineteen years of age. Adolescence is a period in which an individual or teen or adolescent reaches their sexual maturity. This adolescent period is also associated with puberty. In females, the menstrual cycle or menarche begins at puberty.
Adolescence is the period of transformation; teens undergo several developmental changes which include changes in sex organs, secondary sexual characters, height, weight, and behavior (psychological). This period is accompanied by a desire for curiosity to try new things which in a negative sense may lead to wrong habits like drug abuse, alcoholism, smoking, etc.
Adolescents or teens are attracted to alcohol or drugs because of the temporary sense of calmness from problems without understanding the fact that in the long run these things deteriorate one’s body and make them dependent on drugs. It is also observed that withdrawal symptoms are very unpleasant and painful when someone tries to withdraw from drug abuse or alcoholism. All these may lead to anxiety, nausea, etc, and in some cases, it may be life-threatening.

Note: During the adolescence period teens required parental guidance and support and the right counseling which leads to the right path and to make the right choices, also parents should be more attentive to their children during this transition period to identify any unruly change.
