NEET 2026 Examination Hall Instructions

Candidates appearing for NEET UG 2026 must carefully follow the official instructions issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) inside the examination centre and hall. Failure to comply with these guidelines may lead to cancellation of candidature or disciplinary action.

NEET Regulations 2026: Entry Rules and Reporting Time

• The Examination Centre will open three (03) hours before the test begins.

• No candidate will be allowed to enter the Examination Centre after 1:30 PM under any circumstances.

• Candidates should plan their travel in advance considering traffic, weather conditions, and the location of the centre.

• Students must take their allotted seats immediately after the Examination Hall opens.

• (06:00 PM exit allowed for eligible PwD/PwBD candidates).

NEET Rules and Regulations 2026: Admit Card and Identity Verification

• Candidates must present their Admit Card on demand for entry into the Examination Hall.

• Candidates without a valid Admit Card will not be permitted to enter the examination hall.

• During the exam, the invigilator will verify the Admit Card to confirm the candidate’s identity.

• Invigilators will also sign the Answer Sheet and Attendance Sheet.

Seating Instructions

• Each candidate will be allotted a seat with a specific roll number.

• Candidates must locate and occupy only their allotted seat.

• Appearing from any other seat or room will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Documents Required on Exam Day

Candidates must bring only the following documents to the test centre:

• Printed Admit Card downloaded from the NTA website with the passport-size photograph (same as uploaded in the application form) pasted on it.

• One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded in the online application form) for the attendance sheet.

• One postcard-size (4” × 6”) colour photograph with a white background pasted on the proforma downloaded with the Admit Card.

• One original valid photo ID proof, such as:

• PAN Card

• Driving License

• Voter ID

• Passport

• Aadhaar Card

• DigiLocker ID

• APAAR ID

• PwBD certificate or certificate of physical limitation to write, issued by the competent authority, if claiming PwBD relaxation.

Candidates without these documents will not be allowed to appear for the examination.

NEET New Rules 2026: Prohibited Items in the Examination Centre

• Candidates must not bring any barred items or objects that may be used for unfair practices.

• Possession of such items will attract penalties under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

• Candidates are advised not to bring barred items, as no arrangements will be made for safekeeping.

• Water bottles, tea, coffee, cold drinks, and snacks are not allowed inside the examination hall.

• Candidates with diabetes may carry:

• Sugar tablets

• Fruits such as banana, apple, or orange

However, packed food items like chocolates, candies, or sandwiches are not allowed.

Behaviour and Conduct Inside the Exam Hall

• Candidates must remain seated until the examination concludes.

• No candidate is allowed to leave the examination hall before submitting the OMR sheet to the invigilator.

• Smoking is strictly prohibited inside and around the examination centre.

NEET 2026 Examination Procedure

• The test will start exactly at the time mentioned on the Admit Card.

• Important instructions will be announced by the invigilator before the exam begins.

• Signals will be given:

• At the start of the exam

• At half-time

• Before the closing time

Candidates must stop marking answers immediately when the final signal is given.

• Candidates must sign the Attendance Sheet twice:

• Once immediately after the exam begins

• Again while submitting the Answer Sheet

• Candidates must also provide their thumb impression in the space provided on the Attendance Sheet.

Question Paper Verification

Candidates should check the Test Booklet carefully to ensure that the number of pages matches the number mentioned on the cover page.

Important Additional Instructions

• No retest will be conducted if a candidate fails to appear on the scheduled date.

NEET Rules and Regulations 2026: Unfair Means Practices and Breach of Examination Rules

1. Definition

Unfair means practice is an activity that allows a candidate to gain an unfair advantage over other candidates. It includes, but is not limited to:

a. Being in possession of any item or article which has been prohibited or can be used for unfair practices including any stationery item, communication device, accessories, eatables, ornaments, or any other material or information relevant or not relevant to the examination in the paper concerned.

b. Using someone to write the examination (impersonation) or preparing material for copying;

c. Breaching examination rules or any direction issued by NTA in connection with the conduct of the NEET (UG) - 2026 examination from time to time.

d. Assisting other candidates to engage in malpractices, giving or receiving assistance directly or indirectly of any kind or attempting to do so;

e. Writing questions or answers on any material other than the answer sheet given by the Centre Superintendent for writing answers.

f. Tearing/Defacing of filled NEET UG OMR Sheet, any page of the test booklet, etc.

g. Contacting or communicating or trying to do so with any person, other than the Examination Staff, during the examination time in the Examination Centre.

h. Taking away the answer sheet (Original OMR/Office Copy of OMR) out of the examination hall/room.

i. Smuggling out of Question Paper or its part or smuggling out answer sheet or part thereof.

j. Threatening any of the officials connected with the conduct of the examination or threatening any of the candidates.

k. Using or attempting to use any other undesirable method or means in connection with the examination.

l. Manipulation and fabrication of online documents viz. admit card, rank letter, self-declaration, etc.

m. Forceful entry/exit in/from the Examination Centre/Hall.

n. Use or attempted use of any electronic device after entering the Examination Centre;

o. Affixing/uploading of wrong/morphed photographs on the application form/admit card/proforma.

p. Erasing or obliterating any information printed on the OMR Answer Sheet.

q. Providing incorrect information and/or overwriting of the Roll No./ Test Booklet No. / own Name of the Candidate / Father’s Name / Mother’s Name / own Signature, on the OMR Answer Sheet.

r. Making fake claims by manipulating the responses in the OMR sheet by/on tampering it in any way whatsoever, uploaded on the website for the challenge before or after the declaration of the result.

s. Creating obstacles in smooth and fair conduct of the examination.

t. Any other malpractices declared as Unfair means by the NTA.

u. Any other unfair means practice covered under Clause 3 of Chapter II under Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
