  • 2018- The cap on NEET attempts was removed. Now, attempts were determined based on age criteria.

  • 2017- NEET had a maximum attempt limit of 3, with age restrictions for general (below 25 years) and reserved category candidates (below 30 years).


Age Limit for NEET Exam 2025

  • Minimum Age Limit- Candidates must be at least 17 years old by the time of admission or will turn 17 by December 31 of the year they seek admission to the undergraduate medical course.

  • Maximum Age Limit- There was once a 25-year age cap, with a 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD candidates. However, there is currently no upper age limit for NEET, and candidates who are 17 years old can appear without facing any age restrictions. 


Educational Qualifications for NEET 2025

To be eligible for NEET 2025, candidates must fulfil the following educational qualifications


1. Minimum Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have completed their Class 12 or equivalent examination from a recognised board or institution.

  • The mandatory subjects for NEET are

    • Physics

    • Chemistry

    • Biology/Biotechnology

    • English (as a compulsory subject)


2. Minimum Marks in Class 12

  • For General candidates, a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology combined is required.

  • For OBC, SC, and ST candidates, the minimum aggregate mark required is 40% in these subjects combined.

  • For PWD candidates, the minimum required mark in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology combined is 45%.
