तुम्हारी समझ

(क) हर बार भीखूभाई कम दाम देना चाहते थे। क्यों?
उत्तर: भीखूभाई हमेशा कम दाम देना चाहते थे क्योंकि वे बहुत कंजूस थे।

(ख) हर जगह नारियल के दाम में फर्क क्यों था?
उत्तर: नारियल के दाम में फर्क इसलिए था क्योंकि जहाँ नारियल की खेती होती है, यानी नारियल के बगीचे में, वहाँ नारियल सबसे सस्ता होता है। जैसे-जैसे वह बाजार की ओर बढ़ता है, उसकी कीमत बढ़ती जाती है और बाजार में पहुँचने पर यह सबसे महंगा हो जाता है।

(ग) क्या भीखूभाई को नारियल सच में मुफ्त में मिला? क्यों?
उत्तर: नहीं, भीखूभाई को नारियल मुफ्त में नहीं मिला। इसे प्राप्त करने के लिए उन्हें काफी दूर पैदल चलना पड़ा, धूप में पसीना बहाना पड़ा, और अंत में वह नारियल के पेड़ से गिर पड़े, जिससे उनके सिर पर एक बड़ा नारियल गिरा।

(घ) वे खेत में बूढ़े बरगद के नीचे बैठ गए। तुम्हारे विचार से कहानी में बरगद को बूढ़ा क्यों कहा गया होगा?
उत्तर: बरगद को बूढ़ा इसलिए कहा गया होगा क्योंकि वह पेड़ कई वर्षों से अस्तित्व में है।

भीखूभाई ऐसे थे

कहानी को पढ़कर तुम भीखूभाई के बारे में काफी कुछ जान गए होगे। भीखूभाई के बारे में कुछ बातें बताओ।
उत्तर:
(क) उन्हें खाने-पीने का बहुत शौक था।

(ख) वे बेहद कंजूस थे।

(ग) उन्हें नारियल बहुत पसंद था।

(घ) वे न्यूनतम पैसे में नारियल प्राप्त करना चाहते थे।

(ङ) वे बात बनाने में बहुत चतुर थे।

क्या बढ़ा, क्या घटा

कहानी जैसे-जैसे आगे बढ़ती है, कुछ चीजें बढ़ती हैं और कुछ घटती हैं। बताओ इनका क्या हुआ, ये घटे या बढ़े?
उत्तर:

कहो कहानी

यदि इस कहानी में भीखूभाई को नारियल नहीं बल्कि आम खाने की इच्छा होती तो कहानी आगे कैसे बढ़ती? बताओ।
उत्तर: स्वयं करो।

बात की बात

कहानी में नारियल वाले और भीखूभाई की बातचीत फिर से पढ़ो। अब इसे अपने घर की बोली में लिखो।
उत्तर:

• अरे भाई नारियल वाले, एक नारियल का कितना दाम है?

• बस दो रुपये में अंकल जी।

• बहुत ज्यादा बता रहे हो। एक रुपये में दे दो।

• अरे नहीं अंकल जी। अगर एक रुपये में लेना है तो मंडी जाओ।

• मंडी कहाँ है?

• यहाँ से थोड़ी दूर है।

शब्दों की बात

(क) मंडी में क्या-क्या बिक रहा होगा?

जैसे-ताज़ा टमाटर! बीस रुपया! बीस रुपया! बीस रुपया! मंडी में और कैसी आवाजें सुनाई देती हैं?
उत्तर:
(क) मंडी में आलू, टमाटर, मटर, शिमला मिर्च, बंदगोभी, गाजर, प्याज, आदि सब्जियाँ बिक रही होंगी।
(ख)

• दस रुपये में डेढ़ किलो आलू लो।

• भेलपूड़ी खाओ।

• रंग-बिरंगे गुब्बारे खरीदो।

(ग) क्या तुम अपने आसपास की ऐसी जगह सोच सकते हो, जहाँ बहुत शोर होता है। उस जगह के बारे में लिखो।।
उत्तर:
मेरे घर के पास एक भवन-निर्माण कार्य चल रहा है। वहाँ से विभिन्न कर्कश आवाजें आती रहती हैं—कभी ड्रिलिंग की, कभी पत्थर की घिसाई की, कभी ट्रैक्टर की, और कभी भारी सामान उठाते श्रमिकों की जोर की आवाजें।

गुजरात की झलक

(क) “मुफ्त ही मुफ्त’ गुजरात की लोककथा है। इस लोककथा के चित्रों में ऐसी कौन सी बातें हैं जिनसे तुम यह अंदाज़ा लगा सकते हो?
उत्तर: इस लोककथा के चित्रों में भीखूभाई का पहनावा प्रदर्शित किया गया है। मंडी में बिक रही चीजें, जैसे बटाटा, आलू, और कांदा, यह दर्शाती हैं कि यह कथा गुजराती है। पुरुष के नाम के साथ ‘भाई’ और महिला के नाम के साथ ‘बेन’ जुड़ा हुआ है, जिससे यह भी स्पष्ट होता है कि यह गुजरात की लोककथा है।
