Who is Amitabh Bachchan?

Amitabh Bacchan is a famous Bollywood actor best known for his work in films like  Zanjeer, Laawaris, Coolie, Naseeb, and television game shows. Amitabh Bachchan is a Bollywood actor who premiered in Hindustan in 1969. His role in "Zanjeer” in 1972 made him an action movie star. In the 1980s, Bachchan had a seat in the Indian Parliament. In the 1990s he founded his own production company. He resumed his performances with Mrityudaata in 1997. In 2000, he began presenting the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"


The early childhood of the famous actor was spent in the city of Allahabad currently known as Prayag Raj. The full name of the actor is Amitabh Harivansh Bachchan, better known as Amitabh Bachchan, was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, India. India was still a British colony at the time and did not achieve independence until five years later. Bachchan's father was the famous Indian poet Dr Harivansh Rai. His mother Teji Bachchan is a Sikh socialite. He has a younger brother named Ajitab. 


He received his primary education in Sherwood College boarding school, he later enrolled in  Delhi University. He earned a graduation degree of Bachelor of Arts. After graduating, he became a freight forwarder in Kolkata. After a few years in Calcutta, Bachchan was ready to change. He decided to move to Mumbai to pursue his dream of a career in acting in Bollywood. During this time, India has been independent for almost two decades and the Hindi film industry was thriving. 


By the early 1970s, Bachchan had gained popularity among audiences as the "angry young man" in a series of successful Hindi feature films. His starring role in Zanjeer is particularly helpful in making him a hero of action movies. Bachchan's performances in movies such as Lawaris, Coolie, Naseeb, Silsila, Sharabi and Jaadugar continue to be loved by fans and have won him several awards. He appeared in more than 100 films till the early 1980s.


In 1984, he started his political career by gaining a seat in the Indian Parliament. He had a rather short-lived political career. In 1987, he left his seat due to an unexpected controversy. He decided to start his own entertainment production company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited and became the CEO. Bachchan is also committed to charity. He was appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2003.

Amitabh Bachchan has won the three highest order civilian awards of the country, he has won Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan.
