A non-contact force is defined as a force acted on a body by another body which is having no contact with each other. Non-contact forces are experienced if the bodies do not have physical contact between them or if a force is given without any interaction. There are so many examples for the non-contact forces. Gravitational force is the non-contact force which causes bringing the objects back into earth when the object is thrown to the air. Different non-Contact forces in our daily life are visible. An apple falling down from a tree which is due to gravitational force is one of the best examples of non-contact force. The iron particles get attracted in the presence of a magnet without any contact. This by another kind of the noncontact force known as magnetic forces. Electromagnetism is another example of the non-contact forces acting. If the electric current is passed through a metal, the metal will become an electromagnet which can also act as magnet and attract the iron particles towards it without making any contact. This is also an example for the non-contact forces in our day to day life. In short, gravitational force, magnetic force, electrostatic force, electromagnetic force etc are the examples for the non-contact forces.

If a body is resting on a surface it is making a downward force equivalent to its weight and this downward force is referred to as Gravitational force. Electrostatic forces are identical to the gravitational forces. The only difference is that the electrostatic forces are in between the charges while that of gravitational force is in between masses.
