Hint:The National Flag of India is a horizontal rectangular tricolour of India in saffron, white and green. It has the Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel, in navy blue at its centre. It became the official flag of India on 15 August, 1947.

Complete answer:
The national flag of India is a symbol of honour, patriotism, and freedom for the country which represents our unity despite the diversity in terms of language, religion, gender etc.
In 1921, Gandhi made the proposal for an Indian flag. This one was designed by Pingali Venakayya. At its centre was a traditional spinning wheel. Later, a modification took place and included a white stripe in the centre for other religious communities and a to create a background for the spinning wheel.
To avoid sectarian conflicts, the colors of green, white and saffron were chosen. The colour saffron represented courage and sacrifice, white denoted peace and truth and the color of green symbolizes faith and chivalry. The diameter of the flag approximates its width of the white band, and has 24 spokes.
The National Flag of India was adopted in its present form at the meeting of Constituent Assembly held on 22 July 1947, a few days before India's independence from the British on 15 August, 1947.

Hence, the correct answer is option (D).
