The Lok Sabha is one of the two houses of the Indian Parliament. Before we proceed to know more about the Lok Sabha, we must be well aware of the Indian Parliament. So the Indian Parliament is the Supreme body of India. The House of Parliament consists of the President, the Upper house commonly known as Rajya Sabha and the Lower House which is known as Lok Sabha.
1) The President: The President of India is elected for five years by the Electoral College. The Electoral College is formed from the members of Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and the Legislative Assembly of the respective States. The President must take care of the integrity of the laws formed by the Constitution. Also, he acts as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. He can call an urgent meeting of both the Houses of Parliament whenever he finds it necessary.
2) Rajya Sabha: Being the Upper House of the Parliament, it can accommodate a maximum of 250 members. Out of which 238 are elected by the Parliament and 12 are appointed by the President of India. Although the working tenure of the Rajya Sabha members is 6 years, still one-third members change after every two years.
3) Lok Sabha: It is referred to as the Lower House of the Indian Parliament. The members of Lok Sabha are elected for five years or until the whole Sabha is dissolved by the President. It has accommodation of 543 seats and its people are elected by the citizens of India. The Head of the House is known as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He is elected from among the members of the house with a valid voting procedure. He carries out all the meetings that happen in the Lok Sabha.
The Head of the Lok Sabha is the Prime Minister of India. The Prime Minister of India is considered as the main authority of the Government of India. He is elected for a term of five years by the election procedure that holds all over the country. He advises the President of the country on various legislative matters and helps him in making better decisions.

Rajya Sabha is also known as the Council of States and Lok Sabha is known as the House of the People. OM Birla is the current Speaker of the Lok Sabha who is holding this post since 19 June 2019. There is a special reservation for the members of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe in the Lok Sabha.
