Hint Motion is the movement of an object. If the object shows rolling as motion it is known as rolling motion. It is not necessary that an object has to move from one place to another place to say that the object is in motion.
Complete step by step answer
Every particle has two velocities, one due to its rotational motion and the other due to its translational motion, and the resulting in the sum of both velocities. Rolling is a type of motion that combines rotation and translation with respect to a surface.
Rolling Motion is two types
Pure rolling
Impure rolling
Rolling without sliding is known as pure rolling. In pure rolling the body in motion rolls on the surface without sliding. The body in motion does not slide its purely rolling
For example: If we take a car moving on the road the wheels of the car roll on road. In flat surface ie when the surface of the road is flat it is in pure rolling
Rolling with sliding is known as impure rolling. In impure rolling the body in motion rolls on the surface with sliding. In addition to pure rolling it also experience slide
For example: If we take a car moving on the road the wheels of the car roll on road. In slope surfaces i.e. when the surface of the road is slope in addition to the pure rolling it also experiences slide motion. It slides in the slope but it does not slide when it is on a flat surface.
Note In impure rolling the slide of the body depends on the surface on which it rolls i.e. it depends on the friction between the body in motion and the surface if the surface is slippery then the body in motion experiences a lengthy slide which is uncontrollable sometimes.
