Mismanagement of budgetary allocation, poor infrastructure, lack of concrete vision are some of the reasons why the Indian public health care sector is in a state of disarray. The risk of death is faced by around 27 percent of the Indian population because of poor health care infrastructure.
India has the lowest spending on health care when we compare it with other countries, like all the countries of BRIC. In the budget only 2.2 percent was allocated to the health care whereas the allocation for defence was 10.6 percent. India effectively spends less than 1.5 percent of its GDP on health care whereas the US spends 18 percent of its GDP on the health sector.
According to reports 70 percent of Indians, when spending out of pocket, prefer private health care services over public health care services.
When it comes to quality the pirate health care sector is way ahead of the public health care sector. However the public health services are more affordable.
