India's participation in this international competition spans an impressive 22-year history, and this year, the Indian team clinched a gold medal, marking a significant triumph after a nine-year gap. Last time, India secured a Gold in 2014.
The Indian team comprised four outstanding students, all of whom achieved remarkable success. Kshitij Sodani got the gold, while Paras Kasmalkar and Shreyan Ray secured well-deserved silver medals. Additionally, Sushil Raaja U earned a prestigious bronze medal. The team was under the able leadership of Madhavan Mukund, Director of Chennai Mathematical Institute, and Jatin Yadav from IIT Delhi.

Kshitij Sodani's journey at the International Olympiad for Informatics (IOI) is nothing short of awe-inspiring. He commenced with a bronze in 2020, followed by silver medals in 2021 and 2022, and culminated his IOI journey with a remarkable gold medal in 2023. His achievements extend beyond IOI, as he clinched a gold medal at the Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2023, hosted in Beijing. This marked India's second gold at APIO, with the previous gold medal secured 14 years ago.

The path to international competition involves three rigorous selection rounds: zonal, national, and camp phases.
Zonal Round: In the first phase, candidates tackle either the Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) or the Zonal Computing Olympiad (ZCO). Out of 300 applicants, the best performers move forward.
National Round: The Indian National Olympiad in Informatics (INOI) is the next challenge, where 30 students are chosen through competitive programming.
Camp Phase: The final camp phase involves three demanding tests, akin to the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). The best minds are identified here to represent India globally.
