The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced the syllabus for the Class 9 examinations for the academic year 2024-25. Students, parents, and teachers can now access the detailed subject-wise breakdown of topics to be covered throughout the year. This will help them plan their studies and ensure they are well-prepared for the exams. There are 33 subjects offered to ICSE 9th students, but they are allowed to study only 6–8.

According to the records and guidelines of the CISCE, ICSE Class 9 offers a comprehensive range of 33 subjects. These subjects are categorised into Group I, Group II, and Group III. Refer to the table below for further information.
Note: Candidates with Thai nationality may be the most likely to give History, Civics, and Geography (Thailand).
Candidates have the option to choose either one subject from Section A or Section B, or alternatively, to choose one subject from each section.
Note: Please be aware that it is typical for candidates to opt for both Science and Mathematics from Group II. If candidates opt for any other combination of subjects, the Heads of Schools are required to inform them of the potential implications. However, it's important to note that all combinations of subjects will be accepted for admission to the I.S.C. XII course.
The following subject combinations are prohibited for the ICSE Class 9 examination in 2025:
If candidates choose a Modern Foreign Language as a Second Language in Group I, they cannot select the same language in Group II or Group III.
If candidates select a Modern Foreign Language in Group II, they cannot choose the same language as a subject in Group I or Group III.
If candidates opt for a Modern Foreign Language in Group III, they cannot choose the same language as a subject in Group I or Group II.
