Table of 17

What Should Every Student Know about the Multiplication Table of 17?

The result of the sum of any number that is repeated seventeen times is part of the multiplication table of 17.

Example:

  • 2 times 17 is 34, and in terms of addition, it is 17+17=34.

  • Similarly, when we add 17 nine times, the result will be 153, i.e., 17+17+17+17+17+17+17+17+17=153.

  • Also, in terms of multiplication, 9 times 17 and 2 times 17 can be represented as 9 × 17 = 153 and 2 × 17 = 34, respectively.

Trick: Addition of Table 10 and Table 7

By using the table of 10 and table of 7, we can create the multiplication table of 17.

Write the table of 10 and table of 7 and add the resultant to get the multiplication table of 17, as shown below:

Table of 10

Table of 7

Add

Table of 17

10  x  1  =  10

7 × 1 = 7

10 + 7 = 17

17 x 1 = 17

10  x  2  =  20

7 × 2 = 14

20 + 14 = 34

17 x 2 = 34

10  x  3  =  30

7 × 3 = 21

30 + 21 = 51

17 x 3 = 51

10  x  4  =  40

7 × 4 = 28

40 + 28 = 68

17 x 4 = 68

10  x  5  =  50

7 × 5 = 35

50 + 35 = 85

17 x 5 = 85

10  x  6  =  60

7 × 6 = 42

60 + 42 = 102

17 x 6 = 102

10 x 7  =  70

7 × 7 = 49

70 + 49 = 119

17 x 7 = 119

10 x 8  =  80

7 × 8 = 56

80 + 56 = 136

17 x 8 = 136

10 x 9  =  90

7 × 9 = 63

90 + 63 = 153

17 x 9 = 153

10 x 10 = 100

7 × 10 = 70

100 + 70 = 170

17 x 10 = 170

Solved Question Based on Multiplication Table of 17

In this section, we are going to solve a few questions that can appear in the form of word problems, multiple choice, or numericals.

Word Problems Based on Table 17

Question 1: Anu bought 15 apples for Rs. 255. What is the cost of two apples?

Answer:  The cost of 15 apples is Rs. 255.

So, the cost of 1 apple = 255/15 = 17

Therefore, the cost of two apples = 17 * 2 =  34

Question 2: If 17 people complete a work in 4 days, then in how many days will 2 people complete the same work?

Answer:   Given that 17 people complete a work in 4 days.

So, 1 person can complete the same work in 17*4 days = 68 days

Therefore, 2 people will complete the same work in 68/2 days = 34 days.

Question 3: Simplify 3 + 5 - 34 17*2.

Answer: Simplify this problem using the BODMAS rule, which is Bracket, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.

So, 3 + 5 - 2 * 2 → 3 + 5 - 4 → 4

Question 4: Solve: 50 minus 8 plus 68 divided by 4.

Answer: 50 - 8 + 68  4 = 50 - 8 + 17 = 50 + 9 = 59.

MCQ Based on Table 17

Question 1: Simplify: 172 + 18 = ?

  1. 304

  2. 306

  3. 307

  4. 308

Answer: (c)

Solution. 172 = 17*17 = 289

289 + 18 = 307.

Trick: Since the unit digit of 17 is 7, the square number will end with 9. While adding 8 with 9, the unit digit of the answer will end with 7.  In the option, there is a change in only the unit digit. So, we can solve such problems within a second.
