Gram in Mathematics and Metric Measurement

In the metric system, Gram measure is a unit of measurement of mass and weight. In weight, a gram is mathematically equivalent to a thousandth (1000th) of a kilogram. In order to convert from one unit to another, we can use unit assessment. For example, a bus weighs 8,000 pounds. Find out the volume of tons is this?

Solution:

We know that 1 ton=2,000 pounds.

For conversion of pounds to tons, you can divide 8,000 by 2,000.

8,000÷2,000=4 tons.

(b) For conversion from smaller units to larger units, multiply by the reciprocal of the suitable unit ratio.
